Keelung upgrades water park facilities for summer fun season

Keelung City is set to kick off its "2026 Keelung Water Fun Season" on July 4, marking the debut of the newly renovated Nuannuan Riverside Park's water play facilities. The event, running through August 30, promises a "cool summer" with upgraded attractions designed for family enjoyment.

Under the theme "Nuannuan Water Fun 2.0," the park boasts enhanced safety and comfort, featuring new, whimsical water play elements shaped like turtles and crabs. This upgrade aims to create a superior and secure water play environment, encouraging more visitors to explore Nuannuan's rich natural landscapes and local culture, positioning it as a premier family destination in Keelung during the summer.

Keelung Deputy Mayor Chiu Pei-lin highlighted the new facilities, emphasizing the fun and safety for children. The event collaborates with various local entities, including the Health Bureau, Nuannuan Library, Nuannuan Parent-Child Center, and Nuannuan West Non-Profit Kindergarten, to offer diverse parent-child activities. These include water play challenges, historical and cultural tours, and interactive theatrical performances.

Nuannuan District Chief Chen Te-lin detailed the operational schedule: water play facilities will be open daily from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The park will be closed on Mondays and Fridays for essential cleaning and water changes. To celebrate the opening on July 4, a limited number of water guns will be distributed, and water guns will be available for free loan throughout the season, inviting families to join in the summer water battles.

Chen advised attendees to use public transportation, such as taking the train to Nuannuan Station and then a shuttle bus, or using regular bus services. For those driving, parking is available at the paid lot under the Shuiyuan Bridge on Shuiyuan Road, followed by a short walk to the park.
