KEFFESO HCDT Reports Strong Governance and 78% Project Execution in 2025

The KEFFESO Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) has declared a successful year in 2025, marked by significant strides in governance, financial oversight, infrastructure delivery, and community development. The Trust reported an impressive 78% execution rate across its project portfolio, demonstrating effective management and implementation.

The Board provided strategic direction and exercised oversight through its meetings, committees and engagements with the Trust’s statutory and operational structures.

According to the Board Secretary, Dr. Matthew Sele-Epri, the Board of Trustees played a crucial role in strengthening oversight. This was achieved through consistent meetings, thorough committee reviews, and diligent monitoring of the approved work plan and budget. The Trust also bolstered the specific oversight functions of its Programs Oversight, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, its Advocacy, Communications, Partnership and Stakeholder Management Committee, and its Finance, Accounts Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Progress was notably recorded in various operational areas, including procurement, recruitment, grievance management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. The Trust also upheld high standards in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), ethics, budgeting, and financial management. External auditors Forvis Mazars were appointed, and the Trust completed its registration with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. Furthermore, Vetiva Capital and FBNQuest were engaged to manage approved naira and dollar reserve investments.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, HRH Moses Theophilus, highlighted that 2025 was a year of "institutional consolidation and measurable progress" across the 11 KEFFESO host communities. The Trust provided support to 258 education, health, and water-service personnel. It also profiled 229 individuals living with disabilities and facilitated vocational training opportunities for 40 young people under a federal government initiative. Additionally, scholarship, employment, and contractor-registration opportunities were facilitated through industry relationships, underscoring the Trust's commitment to community upliftment.
