Kelvin Cruz Welcomes FIFA and Concacaf Presidents

Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Concacaf President Víctor Montagliani during separate meetings in the Dominican Republic. The international football leaders arrived at Punta Cana International Airport to attend a Caribbean Football Union (CFU) membership meeting.

Montagliani arrived first and was met by Cruz, followed later by Infantino, who also received a welcome from the Sports Minister. Cruz was joined by several key figures, including the President of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldi Bautista, and the President of the Dominican Football Federation, José Francisco Deschamps.

For the Dominican Republic, it is a matter of pride to receive the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino; the president of Concacaf, Víctor Montagliani, and all the leaders who are part of the Caribbean Football Union. Your presence in our country reaffirms the importance that the Dominican Republic has achieved on the international sports scene and, particularly, in the development and strengthening of football in our region.

During his meeting, Infantino spoke with President Luis Abinader, who extended a welcome to the country. The FIFA president pledged FIFA's support and collaboration for the advancement of football in the Dominican Republic. Both Infantino and Montagliani expressed gratitude for the warm reception.

Minister Cruz emphasized the significance of hosting Infantino, Montagliani, and other CFU leaders, viewing it as recognition of the Dominican Republic's capacity to host major international events. He highlighted the importance of the country serving as a venue for gatherings of Caribbean football's principal actors and reiterated the government's commitment to supporting initiatives that foster national sports growth and international projection.
