Kemar Roach to be honored for 300 Test wickets milestone

Cricket West Indies (CWI) will celebrate Barbadian pace bowler Kemar Roach for his significant achievement of 300 Test wickets. A special on-field presentation will occur during the fifth One-Day International between the West Indies and New Zealand at Kensington Oval.

Roach, 38, is now the fifth West Indian and second Barbadian to reach this milestone. He secured the landmark during the West Indies' win over Sri Lanka in the first Test of their series in Antigua. He joins West Indian greats Courtney Walsh, Sir Curtly Ambrose, Malcolm Marshall, and Lance Gibbs in an exclusive club of bowlers.

For the better part of two decades, Kemar has represented the West Indies with distinction, displaying extraordinary skill, heart and determination every time he has worn the maroon cap. He has been an outstanding ambassador for Caribbean cricket, and an inspiration to generations of young fast bowlers.

CWI president Dr. Kishore Shallow lauded Roach's nearly two decades of service, highlighting his skill, heart, and determination. He added that Roach's commitment has earned him a rightful place among the game's legends.

Since his Test debut in 2009, Roach has been a premier fast bowler, taking his 300 wickets at an average of approximately 28.83. He has recorded 12 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket match haul. Known for his control and accuracy, Roach has succeeded in all major Test-playing nations and has been central to the West Indies' pace attack. He has also taken on a key leadership role, mentoring younger bowlers.
