Kent Earns First MLB Win as Nationals Defeat Marlins 9-2

Kent delivered a stellar performance, pitching seven innings and conceding just one run on three hits while striking out batters. His outing was crucial in establishing the Nationals' dominance over the Marlins.

The Nationals offense provided ample support, exploding for five runs in the third inning. This surge began after Miami's starting pitcher, Eury Pérez, issued bases-loaded walks to the first three batters he faced. Washington capitalized on the early struggles, with a wild pitch allowing two runs to score, and Brady House followed up with a towering 445-foot, three-run home run, his tenth of the season, to give the Nationals a commanding 5-1 lead.

Washington continued to extend their advantage in the seventh inning, adding four more runs to seal the victory. Harry Ford launched his third home run of the season over the left-center field fence, pushing the score to 6-1. Dylan Crews then delivered a two-run double into the left-field corner, further widening the gap. Crews also extended his on-base streak to eight consecutive games.

Kent (1-2) made his fourth career start and completed five innings for the first time, throwing 106 pitches. He showed resilience, allowing only three hits and four walks. On the other side, Pérez (7-10) struggled, giving up five earned runs in just three innings, with 41 of his 74 pitches coming in the pivotal third inning. For Miami, Heriberto Hernández hit his fifth home run of the season against the Nationals in nine games.
