Kerala varsity VC alleges foreign forces try to turn youngsters into 'cockroaches'

Kerala University Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal has alleged that foreign forces are deliberately attempting to corrupt young people and turn them into drug addicts. Kunnummal made these assertions on Saturday while responding to criticism regarding his recent remarks at an event honoring high-achieving students.

During the event, Kunnummal had asked students to identify as "strong lions" rather than "cockroaches." He explained that the silence from the young audience was due to their lack of understanding of his metaphor. Kunnummal defended his stance, questioning how he could fulfill his role as vice chancellor if he did not resist such influences. He also addressed accusations about his comments on "Vande Mataram," stating his words were misinterpreted and intended to convey respect for the land. He claimed malicious actors distorted his remarks to create controversies and label him a "Sanghi."

He further criticized the Students' Federation of India (SFI) for protesting against him, citing an incident where SFI activists allegedly portrayed him as a demon king and buried his effigy. Kunnummal maintained that he was simply performing his duties as vice chancellor.
