Khanh Hoa plans expansion, aims to become centrally-governed city by 2030

Khanh Hoa province has approved a resolution to adjust its development plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision extending to 2050. The ambitious plan aims to transform the province into a centrally-governed city, targeting double-digit economic growth.

A significant aspect of the revised plan is the expansion of the administrative center for Nha Trang and Cam Lam. Beyond this, the development strategies for other urban areas within the province are drawing considerable attention regarding their future organization and planning.

The provincial development strategy is structured around three key growth poles to ensure balanced and sustainable development. The northern pole, encompassing Van Phong Bay, will focus on large-scale marine industry and logistics. The central pole, comprising the Nha Trang urban area and the Cam Lam-Cam Ranh region, will serve as the primary hub for administration, services, and knowledge-based industries, coordinating resource allocation. The southern pole, including the Phan Rang urban area and the southern economic zone, is designated for the development of clean energy, green industry, and innovation.

Specific urban areas are being shaped with distinct roles. The North Van Phong area will develop into a high-end tourism and resort destination integrated with a marine ecosystem. Ninh Hoa will become an industrial-urban-logistics hub linked to the Van Phong economic zone and its associated ports and services. South Van Phong will host industrial and logistics centers connected to a major seaport, acting as a transit point for goods and energy. Nha Trang and its expanded region towards Diên Khánh and Diên Lạc will form the province's core urban center, excelling in administration, economy, tourism, technology, education, and healthcare.

Cam Ranh and Cam Lam are envisioned as centers for aviation logistics, services, and tourism, leveraging Cam Ranh Airport and coastal resorts, developing as airport-city and coastal tourism models. The southern coastal cluster, including Phan Rang, Ninh Chử, and others, will be a hub for coastal tourism and cultural-historical services. The new southern development area of Thuan Nam-Ca Na aims to establish a new growth pole for energy industry, seaports, logistics, and supporting urban development.
