Kia's Redesigned Seltos SUV Launches in Europe, Taiwan Debut Expected in Q4

Kia's redesigned Seltos compact SUV has officially launched in the European market, with the German market introduction starting at 34,190 Euros (approximately NT$1.25 million). This new generation Seltos boasts a completely revamped exterior and interior, signaling Kia's commitment to the competitive crossover segment.

Built on Kia's K3 modular platform, the new Seltos measures 4,430 x 1,830 x 1,600 mm with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm, making it larger than its predecessor. The exterior adopts Kia's 'Opposites United' design language, highlighted by distinctive 'Star Map' LED lighting for both headlights and taillights. The vehicle also features flush door handles for improved aerodynamics and a striking rear light bar connecting the vertical taillamp clusters.

Inside, the Seltos showcases a modern cockpit centered around a dual-screen setup: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen. The system supports AI voice assistant and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, enhancing convenience and connectivity. Cargo space has also been increased to 536 liters, catering to everyday utility needs.

Under the hood, European models offer a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 193 horsepower and 27 kg-m of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 1.6-liter hybrid variant, expected to launch in October, will deliver a combined output of 154 horsepower, with an optional e-AWD system boosting the total to 178 horsepower. For the Taiwanese market, distributor San Mei Kia intends to introduce the new Seltos in the fourth quarter, positioning it to compete directly with models like the Toyota Corolla Cross.
