Kim Ha-seong goes hitless in first start since injury as Braves' win streak ends

Kim Ha-seong returned to the starting lineup for the Atlanta Braves on August 8th (KST), playing shortstop in his first game back from a finger injury. However, his return to action was marked by a hitless performance, as he went 0-for-2 at the plate against the New York Yankees.

Kim had been on the injured list since early last month due to inflammation in his right middle finger. After a rehabilitation stint in the minor leagues, he rejoined the major league team on August 5th. Despite previous trade rumors and speculation about his release, the Braves opted to keep him on the roster over designated for assignment player Jorge Mateo.

However, Kim's struggles at the plate this season have been significant. Entering the game with a .068 batting average in 27 appearances, he was not used in the previous three-game series against the Miami Marlins. In his four games back since rejoining the team, he had not played until this start against the Yankees. His season average further dipped to .067 (5 hits in 75 at-bats) after this outing.

The Braves ultimately lost the game 2-3 in a dramatic extra-inning affair, ending their nine-game winning streak. Kim was replaced defensively late in the game. The team now holds a 70-46 record, maintaining their lead in the National League East.
