Kim Min-jae's opening goal leads Bayern past Aston Villa for second Asian tour win

Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory over English Premier League side Aston Villa in a preseason friendly held in Hong Kong. This win marks the German club's second consecutive victory during their Asian tour, following a similar 2-1 win against Jeju United of the K League earlier in the week.

The decisive goal came from South Korean defender Kim Min-jae, who opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a header from a corner kick. Kim played 63 minutes in the match, partnering with defender Jonathan Tah in central defense. His performance was noted for its stable defensive play before he was substituted.

After Kim's departure, Bayern conceded a goal in the second half. However, they managed to hold on for the win. The match was part of Bayern's preparations for the upcoming 2026-2027 season, which officially begins with the German Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 23rd.

Bayern Munich's tour also includes a friendly match against RB Leipzig on August 15th. Manager Vincent Kompany had previously stated his intention to give Kim Min-jae significant playing time, a plan that was largely followed in the friendly against Aston Villa.
