Kim Min-seok accuses Han Dong-hoon of launching a political “shooting spree”

Kim Min-seok, leader of South Korea’s Democratic Party, accused independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon of suddenly engaging in what he called a “shooting spree” of attacks against ministerial nominee Kim Seung-won.

Speaking at a Democratic Party leadership meeting in South Chungcheong province on the 4th, Kim said Han appeared not to have found a consistent direction for his parliamentary work. He argued that Han was raising new attacks whenever issues arose instead of reflecting on matters concerning himself.

Kim suggested that Han might be turning his attention to the Democratic Party because the People Power Party was not engaging with him. He said the party should stop responding directly to Han’s questions and allegations, leaving replies to Democratic Party spokesperson Cho Gye-won.

Other Democratic lawmakers defended Kim Seung-won and attacked the People Power Party’s criticism. Floor leader Han Byung-do said People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk had made unverified accusations of bribery and even spoken of the nominee going to prison with the president. Lee Seong-yoon called it absurd to claim that a decision not to indict in the case reflected special treatment.
