Kim Min-seok, Jeong Cheong-rae, Song Young-gil Advance to Democratic Party Leadership Race Finals

Three prominent figures from the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Min-seok, Jeong Cheong-rae, and Song Young-gil, have successfully secured their spots in the main convention for the party's leadership race. The results of the preliminary election, announced on July 23rd, confirmed their advancement to the final stage of the contest, which is set to conclude on August 17th.

The preliminary selection process involved a weighted combination of votes. Central committee members and dedicated party members cast their ballots online, accounting for 35% of the total score each. An additional 30% was derived from a public opinion poll, reflecting broader party sentiment. This multi-faceted approach aimed to gauge the preferences of both the party's core base and the general electorate.

While Kim Min-seok, Jeong Cheong-rae, and Song Young-gil will move forward, two other candidates, Koh Min-jung and Kim Bo-mi, were unsuccessful in advancing to the main convention. The election management committee did not disclose the specific vote percentages or rankings for the preliminary round, focusing instead on the outcome of who would proceed to the final contest.
