Kim Min-seok Leads Ruling Party Primary in Key Honam Region

Kim Min-seok has emerged as the frontrunner in the ruling party's national convention, securing a decisive victory in the crucial Honam region. During the August 17th convention's regional primary in Honam, Kim garnered over half the votes, solidifying his position in the race for party leadership.

Kim's performance in Honam was particularly strong, where he received 57.54% of the ballots. His closest competitor, Chung Sye-kyun, secured 32.65%, while Song Young-gil trailed with 9.81%. This regional success contributes significantly to Kim's overall standing in the cumulative vote count.

In the concurrent election for supreme council members, the 'pro-Kim' candidate Park Sun-won also took the lead in the Honam region. Cumulatively, Park Sun-won, Choi Min-hee, Seo Mi-hwa, Kim Yong, and Han Min-soo are positioned as the top five candidates for the supreme council seats, indicating a strong alignment with Kim Min-seok's faction.

The convention, held at the Naju Comprehensive Sports Park in Jeollanam-do, featured joint speeches from the candidates for party leader and supreme council members. The results from the Honam primary underscore Kim Min-seok's growing influence within the party as it heads towards its national convention.
