Kim Young-hwan, Chungcheongbuk-do Governor, Declares 'YouTube Politics,' Demands Election Nullification

Chungcheongbuk-do Governor Kim Young-hwan declared his intention to re-enter politics following his term's end, signaling a new chapter with the launch of his YouTube channel, 'Kim Young-hwan TV.' This move is seen as a potential precursor to advocating for the nullification of the recent June 3 local elections and demanding a re-election.

After my term ends, I will return as a journalist. I plan to establish a studio in Cheongju soon and launch 'Kim Young-hwan TV.'

During a press conference at the Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Government Office on Thursday, Governor Kim stated, "After my term ends, I will return as a journalist. I plan to establish a studio in Cheongju soon and launch 'Kim Young-hwan TV.'" He currently operates a YouTube channel with approximately 130,000 subscribers, which he intends to expand and revamp to reflect a broader range of public opinions and articulate his stances on current affairs.

I intend to make political statements for the sake of Chungcheongbuk-do.

Kim also voiced dissatisfaction with the local media, expressing a desire for them to scrutinize and criticize elected officials, including those from the Democratic Party, with the same rigor applied to him. He indicated that if the media falls short, he is prepared to intervene directly.

I am seriously considering running for the chairmanship of the People Power Party's Chungcheongbuk-do chapter. It is linked to changes in Chungcheongbuk-do and the party, reform of the central party, and victory in the general election.

Furthermore, the governor made his political ambitions clear, stating, "I intend to make political statements for the sake of Chungcheongbuk-do." He also hinted at a potential bid for the chairmanship of the People Power Party's Chungcheongbuk-do chapter, citing the need for change within the provincial party, reform in the central party, and success in the upcoming general election. He is also considering filing a complaint against the Chungcheongbuk-do Election Commission, alleging irregularities such as the omission of voter lists, which he believes constitute clear violations of election law.

The Chungcheongbuk-do Election Commission has done inexplicable things like omitting voter lists, and in my opinion, they are attempting to delay, conceal, or cover up clear violations of election law. If necessary, I am considering filing a complaint against the Chungcheongbuk-do Election Commission.
