King Charles III celebrates shared UK-U.S. ties, congratulates North American nation on 250th anniversary

London – King Charles III of the United Kingdom celebrated the "unique and far-reaching ties" shared by his country and the United States on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the North American nation's independence.

"My wife and I are pleased to send our warmest congratulations to you and the people of the United States of America on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of your nation's independence," the British monarch stated in a letter addressed to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Charles III, who shared the content of the letter on the royal website, asserted that the history of the relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States is one of "extraordinary evolution." He noted the journey from overcoming conflicts to becoming one of the "closest and most productive alliances the world has ever seen."

"In defense and security; trade and investment; science, research, culture and the arts, the ties between the United Kingdom are unique and far-reaching," he continued. The King emphasized that this date marks a "historic milestone" prompting reflection on American progress since 1776, the year the country declared independence from Great Britain.

The King also recalled his state visit with Queen Camilla to the United States in late April, which also coincided with the 250th anniversary celebrations. During their four-day visit, they held bilateral meetings with Trump at the White House and the King addressed a joint session of Congress, marking the first time a British monarch had spoken before both chambers since 1991.
