KMT Legislator Praises US Visit, Slams Lai Government as "Boy Who Cried Wolf"

KMT legislator Niu Hsu-ting lauded his party colleague Cheng Li-wen's recent visit to the United States, asserting that it successfully challenged the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) long-standing dominance over communication channels with American officials and think tanks. Niu stated that Cheng's trip, which spanned two weeks and included visits to San Francisco, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, effectively conveyed diverse Taiwanese public opinions to the U.S. and generated significant interest and expectations from American counterparts towards the KMT.

Niu sharply criticized the current administration led by President Lai Ching-te, characterizing it as a "boy who cried wolf" that resorts to simple logic and deception to mislead the public. He specifically refuted claims by some DPP legislators that opposition parties are obstructing budget reviews. Niu argued that such accusations are baseless and that the public sees through these tactics. He emphasized that the Lai administration lacks the capacity for mature communication with adults, relying instead on simplistic narratives.

The channels and discourse power for exchanges with the U.S. have basically been monopolized by the DPP. Cheng Li-wen's trip this time has yielded results; the KMT has conveyed different opinions from Taiwanese society, and the U.S. has developed strong interest and expectations towards the blue camp.

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, Niu called for strong cooperation among opposition parties to maximize their collective strength against the DPP. He warned that the ruling party will likely attempt to sow discord within the opposition ranks and target strong candidates with minor accusations to deter them. Niu urged the opposition to remain focused and not be swayed by the DPP's interference tactics, highlighting the current momentum of the opposition alliance and the declining credibility of the ruling party.
