KMT Penghu mayoral candidate Chen Cheng-chung registers, vows to seek broad support

Chen Cheng-chung completed his registration as the Kuomintang’s candidate for Penghu county magistrate on the 3rd, surrounded by his wife, Chen Shuang-chuan, the head of the party’s Penghu branch, and a large group of supporters.

Chen said he would seek support from pan-blue voters, but would also actively approach anyone who shared his ideas. He said registration did not mark the completion of a task. Instead, it meant taking on a responsibility.

Registration is not the completion of a task, but the moment I truly take on a responsibility.

Behind every policy proposal, Chen said, stood people or values that he hoped to protect. He promised to explain his experience, policies and methods clearly, then leave the final choice to voters. The county magistrate, he said, should not merely manage county affairs, but lead Penghu toward its future.

Chen argued that Penghu could and deserved to do better. He called for a “governance revolution” that would allow the county to stand up again, describing the campaign not simply as an election but as a chance to find Penghu a new direction. Chen Shuang-chuan also declared that he would work to turn the county’s “green land” into “blue skies,” using the colors associated with Taiwan’s main political camps.
