Ko Chih-en Relaunches 'Temple Talk' Campaign for Kaohsiung Mayor Race

Ko Chih-en, the Kuomintang's candidate for the 2026 Kaohsiung mayoral election, is set to relaunch her "Temple Talk" campaign events starting in mid-July. This initiative, inspired by the success of her previous "Temple Talk" series in 2022, will feature 35 events across the city.

The campaign aims to connect with citizens on a grassroots level, allowing Ko to present her vision for Kaohsiung's municipal governance and future development. The "Temple Talk" events, held in local temples, markets, and communities, adopt a populist approach. These gatherings typically include relaxed interactions such as eating popcorn, listening to music, and short speeches, fostering a more personal connection with voters.

In 2022, Ko's initial series of 18 "Temple Talk" events garnered significant positive feedback, attracting support from prominent Kuomintang figures like Chiang Chi-chen, Cheng Li-wen, and Lo Chih-chiang. The original plan for 11 events was expanded due to enthusiastic public response.

As the 2026 mayoral race intensifies, Ko, who also serves as the head of the Kuomintang's Kaohsiung chapter, is resuming these outreach efforts. This follows the postponement of three party member forums due to typhoon warnings. The upcoming "Temple Talk" sessions are intended to provide citizens with a closer understanding of Ko's policy proposals and future outlook for Kaohsiung. Specific dates, times, and locations for the 35 events will be announced progressively.
