Ko Min-jung: Moon Jae-in would have endured 'mobbing' silently

Rep. Ko Min-jung, a candidate for the Democratic Party's leadership, has responded to fellow candidate Rep. Chung Jin-sook's assertion that he is being subjected to a "mob beating" within the party. Ko suggested that former President Moon Jae-in, if faced with similar criticism, would have simply endured it without complaint. "If it were former President Moon Jae-in, he would have just endured it even if he were beaten," Ko stated during an interview on MBC's "Cho Seung-won's News Kick." She advised Chung to bear the "weight of the crown" as the immediate past party leader, implying that such criticism is part of the role. Ko also commented on the escalating internal party conflicts, stating that "fights happen when both sides throw punches." She added that "only the parties involved can stop it." Responding to the host's mention of Chung's "mob theory," Ko remarked that Chung might not be facing such intense backlash if he were not the immediate past leader. She suggested that refusing to accept the evaluation of his past leadership was awkward. "As the party leader, you are in a position to take all responsibility," Ko asserted. "If you consider it the weight of the crown and endure it a little, more party members will empathize with that pain." Ko further criticized Chung's previous leadership tenure, describing it as "frustrating." She felt that while there were many slogans, they lacked explanation, likening it to having "flags but only dust." In contrast, she recalled the leadership under Lee Jae-myung, where the process of deciding on slogans was sometimes leaked to the media, allowing party members and the public to understand the discussions and form judgments.
