Ko Wen-je Mocks Shen Po-yang's Weakness; Chien Shu-pei Blasts: 'Blame Ko for Turning TPP into Tiny Blue'

Taipei City Councilor Chien Shu-pei has sharply criticized Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an's campaign support for the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), calling it "charity."

Chien's remarks came after TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je suggested that the reason for Chiang's limited campaign efforts for TPP candidates was the perceived weakness of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Shen Po-yang, who is running against a TPP candidate.

Ko stated that if Shen were stronger, Chiang would feel more pressure. However, Chien dismissed this, arguing that Chiang's campaign strategy has nothing to do with Shen's strength. Instead, she accused Ko of deflecting blame.

"You should blame Ko Wen-je for leading the Taiwan People's Party to become a 'tiny, tiny blue' faction," Chien declared, implying the TPP has become subservient to the Kuomintang (KMT). She pointed out that the TPP's own support has dwindled to just 6%, making them increasingly irrelevant and disrespected.

Chien further noted that TPP city councilors in Taipei rely heavily on Chiang and the city government, suggesting Chiang is confident that TPP voters will still support him. She concluded that the TPP's current predicament is a result of its own declining influence under Ko's leadership.
