KOICA presents AI-based livestock health monitoring system to Kyrgyzstan

The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has equipped Kyrgyzstan's livestock sector with advanced technology to improve animal health monitoring and farm management. On August 10, 2026, KOICA's Kyrgyzstan office handed over 60 AI-equipped wearable collars to the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Pastures.

The Farmer's Hands system, developed by Bodit Inc., utilizes artificial intelligence and wearable sensors to analyze animal behavior and health status. This technology enables early detection of health issues in livestock, leading to more efficient farm management and the adoption of precision agriculture techniques.

The handover ceremony included presentations on AI-driven livestock health management, practical demonstrations of the sensors and monitoring platform, and case studies from commercial farms and international research partnerships. Director of the Institute, Rakhatbek Ibraev, highlighted the close collaboration between the institute and KOICA, viewing the new initiative as a testament to their partnership.

Lim Soen, head of KOICA's Kyrgyzstan office, expressed optimism that this initiative marks a significant step toward the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan's livestock industry. "I believe this support will not be limited to just providing equipment but will become an important step for the institute and farmers in jointly creating a scientifically based and efficient livestock management system using digital technologies," she stated. KOICA plans to continue supporting the modernization of Kyrgyzstan's agriculture, the implementation of innovative technologies, and the development of research capabilities in animal husbandry.
