Konak Municipality opens new park, boosting city's green spaces

Konak Municipality has inaugurated a new 6,000-square-meter park in the Yenişehir neighborhood, a project designed to provide a breathing space for the city. The opening ceremony was attended by local officials, community representatives, and residents, including children who participated in the ribbon-cutting.

Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu highlighted that this new park, developed on land designated for public use, contributes significantly to Konak's green infrastructure. She noted that since the current administration took office, they have created a total of 15,000 square meters of new green space across the district. "Every park, every green space we can create is very valuable to us," Mutlu stated, underscoring the importance of these areas in a densely populated region.

The mayor explained that while some projects involve creating larger "life valleys" like the new park, others focus on smaller "pocket parks." The goal, she said, is to enhance social interaction and provide recreational areas for all age groups in every neighborhood.

Mutlu also extended her gratitude to Medicana Hospital for its support in the park's development. She pointed out that the park, though located in the Yeni Kent Center, serves the entire city and has been positively received by commuters.

The mayor acknowledged the challenging financial and political climate for local governments but stressed their commitment to continued development and solidarity. "We will continue to produce and struggle together," she affirmed.
