Kookmin University completes summer music camp with Dream Orchestra Eunpyeong

Kookmin University’s music department hosted a summer camp that gave members of Dream Orchestra Eunpyeong direct access to university-level music facilities and instruction.

The August 10 program, titled “Making Summer Melodies Together,” was organized with the Eunpyeong Cultural Foundation. Participants practiced in sections and ensembles at the university’s specialist rehearsal rooms and orchestra hall.

Music students served as mentors during sectional rehearsals, while faculty members led special lectures and ensemble sessions. The program was designed to let the young musicians experience a more professional educational environment and develop their musical skills.

The summer camp with Kookmin University was a valuable experience that allowed the members to immerse themselves in practice in a new environment and broaden their perspective on music.

Jang Woo-yoon, president of the Eunpyeong Cultural Foundation, said the camp gave participants a valuable chance to concentrate on practice in a new setting and broaden their perspective on music. He added that a follow-up improvement concert allowed them to share the results with the local community.

Kang Kyung-mo, dean of Kookmin’s College of Arts, said the university wanted arts education to connect with the community rather than remain within campus. The university said it plans to create further exchanges and partnerships to help local young people expand their aspirations and possibilities through the arts.
