Kookmin University racing team KORA launches 'F-26' electric car for global competition

Kookmin University's Kookmin Racing (KORA) team, part of the university's College of Automotive Mobility, celebrated their upcoming participation in the "2026 Formula SAE Electric" competition with a send-off ceremony. The event also served as the unveiling of their latest creation, the electric formula car designated "F-26."

The Formula SAE Electric competition, organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), is a prestigious global event where top universities showcase their custom-built electric vehicles. This year's competition is scheduled to take place from June 16 to 20 at the Michigan International Speedway.

The F-26 vehicle was developed with the goal of achieving the best stability and consistent performance based on our experience from the previous FSAE competition.

Team Project Manager Jo Hyun-seong, a student of automotive engineering, expressed gratitude for the support received during the development of the F-26. He stated that the car was engineered with a focus on optimal stability and consistent performance, building on the team's prior competition experience. Jo vowed that the team would demonstrate their preparedness and hard work on the world stage.

Professor Shin Sung-hwan, dean of the College of Automotive Mobility and the team's advisor, conveyed his hopes for a strong performance, emphasizing the team's dedication. He noted that with the car's stability, a successful completion of the race could lead to a high-ranking finish. KORA has a proven track record, having secured 4th place globally and 1st in Asia at the FSAE competition in 2015, and they aim to challenge for top honors once again.
