Korea-Argentina leaders sign critical minerals MOU, agree to increase crude oil imports

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Argentinian President Javier Milei have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on critical minerals, signaling a deepening economic partnership between the two nations.

The agreement is designed to bolster cooperation in securing stable supply chains for essential minerals, which are crucial for advanced industries such as semiconductors, batteries, and electric vehicles. Both leaders recognized the strategic importance of these resources and committed to collaborative efforts to ensure their reliable sourcing.

In addition to the critical minerals pact, President Yoon and President Milei also reached an agreement to increase South Korea's imports of crude oil from Argentina. This move is expected to benefit South Korea's energy security while providing Argentina with a significant export market.
