Korea Rural Community Corporation Launches Emergency Safety Management System to Prevent Construction Accidents

The Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) has officially launched an "emergency safety management" system, signaling a firm commitment to eradicating accidents at its project sites. The declaration ceremony, attended by key executives and national organization leaders in Daejeon, also introduced a new slogan: 'KRC Every Safer.' This move is particularly timely as KRC prepares for the peak construction season in the latter half of the year, aiming to preemptively block disasters by bolstering on-site safety protocols.

KRC President Kim In-joong announced the transition to an emergency management system, directing comprehensive structural reforms that encompass personnel, workplaces, contracts, and construction processes. Recognizing the significant presence of elderly workers and foreign laborers on public construction sites, the corporation is enhancing its people-centered preventive measures. This includes establishing five core safety directives: pre-work safety inspections (TBM), training for new personnel, clear placement of safety signs, deployment of signalers around construction machinery, and mandatory use of personal protective equipment.

A strict principle of immediate work suspension will be applied to any site failing to comply with these rules. For workers facing language barriers or physical limitations, KRC plans to improve communication and assign them to customized work areas. The corporation is also developing systems to better manage risks associated with heavy equipment and to ensure that workers can report dangerous situations safely and effectively.

The initiative underscores KRC's dedication to creating a safer working environment. By implementing these rigorous safety standards and fostering a culture of vigilance, KRC aims to significantly reduce the incidence of accidents and ensure the well-being of all individuals involved in its public construction projects.
