Kosovo Democratic Institute calls on Osmani to set date for Assembly's constitutive session

The Kosova Democratic Institute (KDI) has called on acting President Vjosa Osmani to promptly schedule the constitutive session of the Assembly. Following the confirmation of final election results on June 7, a 30-day constitutional deadline began for the formation of the new parliamentary body.

KDI views this 30-day period as the maximum allowed time for the process and warns against it becoming a time of "waiting, uncertainty, and dysfunction." The institute stressed that the current acting president holds institutional responsibility to prevent unnecessary delays and ensure the Assembly's formation proceeds on time and in the public interest.

"Especially after a prolonged period of functioning with current institutions, Kosovo needs institutions with a full mandate, capable of carrying out their constitutional responsibilities and responding to the needs of citizens," the KDI statement reads.

Albin Kurti, leader of Vetëvendosje, the party that emerged as the relative winner of the elections, has begun consultations with Albanian and other parties, excluding the Srpska Lista, regarding the formation of institutions. These discussions follow the confirmation of the results from the early parliamentary elections held on June 7.
