KPSS Exam Fever Begins as 1.7 Million Candidates Sit for Test

Exam centers in Istanbul filled with candidates early in the morning as applicants prepared for Turkey’s KPSS undergraduate General Ability and General Culture session.

Candidates arrived with their admission documents and identification cards. Some reviewed notes outside the schools, while others waited with relatives. Bags, mobile phones and other items barred from the exam buildings were left at deposit points around the schools.

A first-time candidate who recently graduated from Yalova University’s history department said he had prepared for a long time. “It is my first time, and I am very excited. I have been preparing for a long time. I recently graduated from Yalova University’s history department. I hope it goes well. I prepared well. My goal is above 80, and I think I will achieve it,” he said.

A nursing graduate said she had studied regularly for about three to four months. “It was difficult, and I have had many sleepless days. I did not study for a full year, but I have been studying for three or four months. I go to the library every day. I graduated from nursing last year. My goal is to score 80 and get appointed,” she said.

The session is being held at 145 examination centers. Candidates will answer 120 questions in 130 minutes. The test begins at 10:15 a.m., and candidates will not be admitted after 10 a.m. ÖSYM President Bayram Ali Ersoy said 1,708,329 candidates had applied.
