Krause wins third European steeplechase gold

Gesa Krause secured her third European Championship gold medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, leading a dramatic final in Birmingham. The victory also marks Germany's first title at the continental championships.

Krause triumphed in 3,000 meters steeplechase, adding to her previous European titles from 2016 and 2018. The race saw a strong performance from Olivia Gürth, who claimed the bronze medal, her biggest career achievement at 24 years old. France's Alice Finot, the defending champion, took silver.

Krause, who became a mother in early 2023, was also part of that 2012 team, winning bronze.
