Kremlin says it does not rule out renewed talks between Moscow, Kyiv and Washington

The Kremlin says it is open to restarting negotiations between Moscow, Kyiv and Washington, but warned that concrete details remain undecided. The statement followed visits to Russia and Ukraine by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Peskov said the Kremlin would not rule out a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump to discuss the envoys’ trip. “We certainly do not rule out the resumption of the trilateral format,” he said.

He described every attempt at dialogue as “a small step toward peace” and praised the US negotiators’ efforts. “We greatly value the efforts of the American negotiators to build peace,” Peskov said, adding that Putin appreciates Trump’s commitment to the process.

Both sides will have to make concessions and narrow the outstanding issues. We believe we have the elements needed to achieve this.

Witkoff and Kushner met Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday after holding talks with Putin in Moscow for more than three hours. That meeting ended without concrete announcements of progress. Witkoff called the Kyiv discussions “significant, substantive and important,” while saying both sides were encouraged and prepared to continue for as long as necessary. He said the parties would need to make concessions and narrow the outstanding issues. Kushner said the envoys were working on a “peace package.”
