Kristi Noem hired in strategic advisory role for B.C. mining company

NovaRed Mining Inc., a mineral exploration company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has appointed former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to a strategic advisory role. The company announced that Noem will support its mission to acquire and advance critical mineral exploration opportunities, utilizing its artificial intelligence-enhanced technology platform.

Noem's appointment comes after her reassignment in March from her role as Secretary of Homeland Security, a position she held for 13 months. U.S. President Donald Trump had previously announced her move to a new role as "Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas." In this capacity, Noem expressed her intent to build on partnerships and national security expertise forged during her tenure at Homeland Security, emphasizing the critical importance of the Western Hemisphere for U.S. security.

During her time overseeing the Trump administration's immigration policies, Noem faced criticism, including scrutiny over the shooting deaths of two protesters by immigration enforcement officers and the department's spending of billions of dollars. NovaRed Mining highlighted Noem's "extensive experience" in areas such as economic development, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, national security, and public-private collaboration, as well as her broad background in government affairs and strategic planning.
