Kristin Kuuba's Journey at Badminton World Championships Ends in First Round

Estonia's top-ranked badminton player, Kristin Kuuba, has been eliminated from the World Championships in New Delhi after falling in the opening round of the women's singles. Kuuba, currently ranked 134th in the world, faced a challenging opponent in Vietnam's Vu Thi Trang, who is ranked 78th.

The match, which lasted 29 minutes, saw Trang take immediate control. In the first game, Trang established an early 8-1 lead. Although Kuuba managed to narrow the gap to 12-7, Trang responded with a scoring run to extend her lead to 18-11, ultimately winning the game 21-13.

The second game followed a similar pattern, with Trang dominating the early stages to lead 11-1. While Kuuba found some balance in the latter half of the game, she could not overcome the deficit. Trang secured the match with a 21-9 victory in the second game, ending Kuuba's tournament.

This defeat marks Kuuba's second consecutive loss to Trang at the World Championships, having also been defeated by the Vietnamese player in 2019. Kuuba, who is 29 years old, had expressed confidence in her preparation, noting recent training sessions and a camp in Kilingi-Nõmme. Despite her efforts, she shares 33rd place in the tournament standings. The World Championships continue until August 23, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
