KRSU Celebrates First Unified Graduation Ceremony in 33-Year History

For the first time in its 33-year history, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin (KRSU) celebrated a unified, university-wide graduation ceremony on July 25. The event, held at the "Jashtyk Arena," saw 1,128 graduates receive their diplomas. During the ceremony, the university also announced the establishment of an Alumni Association, intended to connect past and present students.

The festive occasion drew over 4,500 attendees, including graduates, faculty, parents, alumni from previous years, and representatives from government bodies of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as university partners. Graduates, adorned in academic robes and caps, mingled with family and friends, capturing memories before the official proceedings began.

Following the national anthems of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, the ceremony commenced with the presentation of diplomas. Graduates with honors were the first to be recognized, followed by recipients from bachelor's, specialist, master's, residency programs, as well as the university's college and school divisions. Each graduate received a commemorative pin, symbolizing their affiliation with the KRSU community.

University Rector Sergey Volkov addressed the graduates, noting that this was the 30th graduating class in the university's history. He expressed pride not only in their academic success but also in their development of critical thinking, decision-making skills, and a willingness to take responsibility. Volkov emphasized that the true value of any profession lies not in position or salary, but in the contribution one makes to society.

A key announcement during the ceremony was the formation of the KRSU Alumni Association. "We are creating today the Alumni Association of the university," Volkov stated. "I want you to continue to feel a connection to the university and to each other for the next 10, 20, 30 years." Video greetings were also extended to the graduates by Alena Arshinova, Chairwoman of the Council of ANO "Eurasia" and a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, who encouraged the graduates to dream, believe in themselves, and contribute to the future of both nations. Marlen Mamataliev, Chairman of the VIII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, also congratulated the graduates, highlighting the significance of this unprecedented university-wide ceremony.
