KT's Kim Hyun-soo becomes third player in KBO history to reach 2,600 hits

KT Wiz veteran batter Kim Hyun-soo has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the third player in KBO League history to record 2,600 career hits. The seasoned slugger reached this landmark on Sunday during a game against the Samsung Lions at Suwon KT Wiz Park.

Kim, batting second as designated hitter, delivered a crucial RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, tying the game at 1-1. This hit marked his 2,600th career hit, placing him in an elite group of KBO legends. He joins Choi Hyung-woo and Son Ah-seop as the only players to have achieved this feat.

Starting his professional career as a development player with the Doosan Bears in 2006, Kim has built a remarkable career. He is known for his consistent hitting, having recorded over 100 hits for 16 consecutive seasons from 2008 until last year. His nickname, 'The Hitting Machine,' reflects his prowess at the plate. Kim has also earned two batting titles, in 2008 with Doosan and again in 2018 while playing for the LG Twins. He also led the league in hits for two consecutive years in 2008-2009 with the Bears.
