Kukdong Engineering Expands Urban Regeneration Projects in Seoul Area

Kukdong Engineering is set to expand its involvement in urban regeneration projects, with a particular focus on Seoul and the wider metropolitan region. The company is prioritizing public-supported, small-scale housing initiatives, often collaborating with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) as a co-project executor.

These LH-participating, small-scale housing projects are designed to enhance project stability and reduce the burden on resident associations. By involving public entities, Kukdong Engineering aims to streamline the development process and secure financing more effectively. This approach is gaining traction as a viable alternative for redeveloping older urban neighborhoods, especially with the increasing designation of small-scale housing management areas and 'Moa Towns' in Seoul.

The company is actively pursuing several projects, including the Kukdong Riverside Apartment small-scale reconstruction in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and is considering participation in the Dong-A Apartment project in Incheon and an LH-participating small-scale housing project in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. The Siheung-dong project involves redeveloping 98 existing housing units into a 231-unit complex, aiming for completion by 2028, coinciding with the opening of the Sinansan Line.

Kukdong Engineering plans to apply its proprietary residential platform, 'The K-House,' to these projects. This platform is designed with flexible spaces that can adapt to changing family structures and lifestyles, integrating various living services. The company emphasizes that 'The K-House' focuses on enhancing residents' daily lives and convenience, tailoring the residential model to the specific characteristics of the local area and its inhabitants.
