Kütahya Murder Linked to Hatay Case: Same Suspect Connects Incidents

A murder investigation in Kütahya, Turkey, has uncovered a disturbing link to a separate case in Hatay, revealing a single suspect implicated in multiple homicides.

Yaşar Tekeli, who is facing charges in the murder of Nagihan Uyğur in Kütahya, is also among the suspects in the deaths of Mehmet and Selbi Uyğur in Hatay. The investigation in Hatay took a new turn when it was discovered that Selbi Uyğur, reported missing since 2012, had also been killed.

Following the suspects' indications, excavations in an orange grove in the Dörtyol district of Hatay led to the discovery of skeletal remains identified as Selbi Uyğur's. In Kütahya, an investigation into a missing person report resulted in the discovery of Nagihan Uyğur's body in a well, covered with concrete, in front of a house in May 2025. Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with this case.

During the first hearing of the Nagihan Uyğur case, the detained suspect Yaşar Tekeli confessed to killing the young woman. The investigations into the Mehmet and Selbi Uyğur murders in Hatay and the murder of Nagihan Uyğur in Kütahya are ongoing in the respective courts.
