Kuwait condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Kuwait has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi militia on civilian and economic sites in several Saudi cities, calling them a dangerous and unjustified escalation.

In a statement, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the attacks injured dozens of civilians, including women and children. It described them as a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the safety of citizens and residents.

The ministry said targeting civilian and economic sites cannot be justified under international law or international humanitarian law. It also condemned continued Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, warning that they threaten maritime navigation, global energy supplies and international trade.

Kuwait expressed its “absolute solidarity” with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed support for measures the Kingdom takes to protect its sovereignty, security, stability, national interests, resources and infrastructure. The statement emphasized the close security relationship between the two countries, saying Saudi Arabia’s security forms an inseparable part of Kuwait’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Kuwait issued the condemnation amid heightened regional tensions and continued concerns over attacks targeting Saudi territory and commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea.
