Kuwait Imposes KD 150 Fee for Visit Visa to Residency Conversion

Kuwait has introduced a new administrative fee of 150 Kuwaiti Dinars (KD 150) for individuals seeking to convert their visit entry visas into regular residency permits. This measure is stipulated under recent amendments to the executive regulations governing the Foreigners Residence Law.

The amendment, published in the official gazette Kuwait Alyoum via Ministry of Interior Decision No. 1091 of 2026, adds a new clause to the existing regulations. It specifically requires the payment of KD 150 for the service of converting a visit visa to a residency permit, as outlined in Article 16 of the executive regulations.

However, the new regulation provides an exemption for domestic workers and those in similar employment categories. This exemption aligns with the provisions of Article 20 of the executive regulations, recognizing specific labor needs within the country.

The Ministry of Interior has directed relevant authorities to implement the decision across their jurisdictions. The amendment takes immediate effect from the date of its publication, signifying a swift change in the procedures for residency conversion in Kuwait.
