Kuwait Intercepts Iranian Missile and Drone Attack; Soldiers Injured, Facilities Damaged

Kuwait's Ministry of Defense announced that its Armed Forces successfully intercepted hostile ballistic missiles and drones that entered the country's airspace early Friday. The incident is described as an Iranian attack targeting both military installations and critical civilian infrastructure.

The Armed Forces detected multiple hostile ballistic missiles and drones since dawn and successfully intercepted and engaged them as part of Kuwait's air defense operations.

Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, stated that multiple threats were detected from dawn and were engaged as part of Kuwait's air defense operations. Despite the successful interceptions, several facilities and camps belonging to the Kuwaiti Army sustained damage from hostile drones. A number of Kuwaiti Land Force personnel were injured while on duty but received immediate medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

The attack also impacted civilian infrastructure. Reports indicate that a power generation station and a water distillation plant were among the sites hit, resulting in a fire and damage to facilities and generation units. Shrapnel from missiles and drones fell in various areas across Kuwait, causing material damage to property. Authorities confirmed that no civilian casualties or injuries occurred.

The injured soldiers received immediate medical treatment and their conditions are stable.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized the continued operational readiness of the Armed Forces, stating they are implementing necessary defensive measures in coordination with relevant authorities to protect Kuwait's sovereignty, national security, and the safety of its citizens and residents. The forces remain on permanent alert to respond to any further threats amid escalating regional security concerns.
