Kuwait keeps defenses razor-sharp

Kuwait welcomed a statement by United Nations Security Council members condemning missile attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and attacks targeting commercial vessels. The statement was issued following attacks that began on July 13 and July 22, respectively.

In response, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for the Security Council members' emphasis on adherence to international law, relevant UN resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and respect for Yemen's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Kuwait also reaffirmed its rejection of actions that threaten regional security and the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.

The Ministry renewed Kuwait's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its sovereignty and security. It also reaffirmed support for Yemen's legitimate government and the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen in their efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in the country.

Bahrain also welcomed the Security Council statement condemning the Houthi attacks. Bahrain's Foreign Ministry affirmed the Kingdom's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as protect its vital interests. The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia's security and stability are an integral part of the security of Bahrain and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, citing the countries' historic ties, shared destiny, and the GCC Joint Defense Agreement.

Bahrain further praised Saudi Arabia's diplomatic, developmental, and humanitarian efforts in Yemen and its role in supporting a comprehensive political solution. The Bahraini Foreign Ministry also commended Saudi Arabia's efforts in establishing a multinational defensive maritime coalition aimed at strengthening maritime security, protecting freedom of navigation and international trade, and safeguarding global energy supplies. Through its current non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, Bahrain called on the international community to take a firm stance to deter attacks threatening maritime navigation and international trade.
