Kwara PDP gov candidate denies link to viral ritual video

Bolakale Kawu, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, has vehemently denied any connection to a viral video purportedly linking his 2027 election ambitions to ritual activities. He described attempts to associate him with the incident as false and mischievous.

Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu has no connection whatsoever with the said individual’s utterances or his alleged actions. Any attempt by anyone to associate the PDP governorship candidate with such conduct is false, mischievous and should be disregarded in its entirety.

The clarification addresses the circulation of a video on social media featuring Alhaji Saheed Ishola, popularly known as LogunOfe. Ishola is alleged to have made comments and engaged in activities connected with ritual sacrifice in relation to the upcoming governorship election. This follows earlier reports alleging PDP supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to pray for the demise of individuals opposing Kawu and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

For the avoidance of doubt, Alhaji Saheed Ishola LogunOfe does not speak for, work for, represent or act on behalf of Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu or his campaign team in any capacity.

In a statement released by his media office, Kawu asserted that he has no relationship with Ishola or the alleged activities. The statement emphasized that any effort to link the PDP candidate to such conduct is baseless and should be disregarded. It explicitly stated that LogunOfe does not speak for, work for, represent, or act on behalf of Kawu or his campaign team in any capacity.

At no time has Engr. Kawu authorised, sanctioned or approved any individual to engage in activities or make statements of such nature in his name or in furtherance of his aspiration.

The media office further stressed that Kawu has never authorized anyone to make such statements or engage in activities of that nature on his behalf. Reaffirming his religious convictions, the statement described Kawu as a devoted Muslim who strictly adheres to the oneness of Allah and does not subscribe to any form of ritual or fetish practices. He places his trust entirely in divine decree, the statement added.

Engr. Kawu is a devoted Muslim whose faith is firmly rooted in the absolute oneness and sovereignty of Almighty Allah. He neither associates partners with his Creator nor subscribes to any form of ritual, fetish or diabolical practice.
