Kwara PDP Unveils Reconcilation Committee to Resolve Internal Crisis Ahead of 2027 General Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has launched a reconciliation committee to mend internal rifts and bolster party unity ahead of the 2027 general election. The committee, led by former Commissioner for Health Dr. Suleiman Atolagbe Alege, is tasked with resolving lingering disagreements and repositioning the party for electoral success.

The strategic initiative by the party leadership is to further consolidate the PDP’s grassroots structures, reconcile members and stakeholders, strengthen existing political relationships and create a stronger platform for collective political action ahead of 2027.

Kwara PDP Chairman Hon. Issa Adamu Bawa stated that the initiative seeks to consolidate grassroots structures, reconcile members and stakeholders, and strengthen political relationships. He emphasized that a party's strength hinges on unity, discipline, effective communication, internal democracy, and the ability to accommodate diverse interests. Bawa charged the committee members to treat their assignment as a critical political responsibility.

Bawa urged the committee to engage broadly with party leaders, former and current officeholders, aspirants, elected representatives, youth and women leaders, ward executives, local government stakeholders, support groups, and community leaders across Kwara Central. He stressed that genuine reconciliation must be built on fairness, mutual respect, consultation, dialogue, inclusiveness, and the party's collective interest.

The party chairman also called for support from all members, asserting that political differences should not jeopardize the overarching goal of building a formidable PDP capable of offering credible, responsive, and people-oriented leadership to Kwara State. Alege, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and the committee, assuring the leadership of their commitment to the task.
