Kwara welcomes entry grade level 10 for graduate nursing officers

The Kwara State government has officially approved and adopted an enhanced entry point for graduate nursing officers within the state civil service, raising their entry grade level from 09 to 10. This significant development was welcomed by the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, with its Executive Secretary, Abdulraheem Malik, describing it as a "significant milestone for the nursing profession and the healthcare system in Kwara State."

The decision aligns with a resolution by the National Council on Establishments and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. It aims to appropriately recognize the rigorous academic and professional demands associated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science qualification, including mandatory internship, National Youth Service Corps, and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Malik expressed optimism that this enhanced entry point will strengthen the state's ability to attract and retain qualified nurses. He believes it will boost staff motivation, help address critical manpower shortages, and ultimately lead to improved healthcare delivery across Kwara State's hospitals. The move is seen as a demonstration of the administration's commitment to fostering a motivated and sustainable healthcare workforce.
