Kyiv's Chief Rabbi leads humanitarian ops. for local community amid waves of Russian strikes

Amidst a recent wave of devastating Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, Chief Rabbi Yonatan Markovitch has mobilized an extensive humanitarian operation to support the local community. The JCC Beit Menachem Kyiv, along with local volunteers, is working alongside emergency services to provide essential supplies.

We are distributing food, water, and essential supplies, strengthening families and giving them hope.

Volunteers are distributing food, water, clothing, and medication to residents affected by the bombardment. The operation focuses on assisting anyone in need, irrespective of their religious or ethnic background, offering practical support and guidance to families left vulnerable by the destruction. The efforts aim to bring "light precisely during these darkest moments for the people of Ukraine."

Kyiv has experienced multiple large-scale attacks in July, striking residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure. The ongoing conflict has left many families without basic necessities. Rabbi Markovitch emphasized the responsibility to be present for those in need, stating, "At a time when the air raid sirens scarcely stop, our responsibility is to be here for every person in need."
