Kyle Schwarber hits 40th homer, ties Phillies franchise record

Kyle Schwarber has powered his way into the Phillies record books, becoming the first player this season to reach the 40-homer mark. His three-run blast against the Mariners' Bryan Woo on Wednesday was his 40th of the season and the 380th of his career.

This is Schwarber's fourth season with the Phillies where he has hit 40 or more home runs, a feat that ties him with Phillies legend Ryan Howard for the most in franchise history. Howard achieved this milestone in four consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2009.

Schwarber's power surge places him in elite company not just within the Phillies organization, but across Major League Baseball. His four 40-homer seasons are tied for the most among all active players, alongside Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. While Ohtani still has a chance to reach 40 homers this season, Judge has been hampered by injuries, limiting his home run total.

Although Schwarber is unlikely to surpass his career-high of 56 home runs from last season, he is on pace to finish 2026 with 48 homers, potentially reaching 50 for the second time in his 12-year career. The Phillies secured a 6-0 victory in the game where Schwarber reached this milestone.
