Kymco, a prominent Taiwanese scooter manufacturer, appears poised to introduce a new model to its popular K1 line, tentatively named the K1 E 125. This upcoming scooter is distinguished by a shift from the current dual rear shock absorbers to a single shock absorber setup, a change likely aimed at making the vehicle more accessible in the competitive commuter segment.

Evidence of the K1 E 125's impending launch has surfaced through multiple channels. Details have appeared on Kymco's official purchasing website, and the scooter has also been listed in the energy consumption verification reports released by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. These disclosures suggest that the official announcement and release are drawing near.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs' June energy consumption report details two variants, SZ25BE and SZ25BF, for the K1 E 125. These reports indicate impressive fuel efficiency figures, with a city mileage of 53.76 km/l, a constant speed mileage of 73.31 km/l, and an overall energy efficiency rating of 60.2 km/l, placing it in the highest energy efficiency category. For comparison, the current K1 125 with dual shocks achieves 60.7 km/l.

While full specifications remain unconfirmed, the adoption of a single rear shock is anticipated to lead to a reduction in the K1 E 125's retail price, making it a more budget-friendly option. Kymco is expected to retain popular features such as the 38.6-liter storage compartment, the 680mm ergonomic seat, and the 40% effort-saving center stand. The company has not yet officially announced the launch date or complete product details for the K1 E 125.
