Kyoto's No. 1 Geisha's Husband Welcomes First Daughter, Family Dotes

Japanese Kabuki actor Nakamura Shichinosuke, known for his stunning portrayals of female roles, has become a father. He joyfully announced the birth of his first child, a daughter, on a radio program, expressing his delight that the family has finally welcomed a girl after generations of boys. The baby was born on August 11th to his wife, Toshimana, who is known as "Kyoto's No. 1 Geisha."

Nakamura, whose real name is Takayuki Namino and who hails from the renowned Nakamura-ya Kabuki family, is celebrated not only for his traditional performances but also for his roles in Hollywood films like "The Last Samurai" and various Japanese historical dramas. He married Toshimana in April 2025, a union described as love at first sight. Following their marriage, Toshimana chose to focus on her family life.

The arrival of the baby girl is a significant event for the Namino family, as she is the first female to be born into the family in over 70 years. Nakamura has affectionately described himself as a "daughter's fool," with the entire family doting on the newborn. Toshimana, who is skilled in shamisen and traditional songs and has a considerable fan base, has closed her social media accounts since her marriage.
