Kyrgyz Cabinet approves 20% pension indexation from October

Kyrgyzstan will index the insurance portions of pensions by 20% from October 1, 2026, after the Cabinet approved a coefficient of 1.20. Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliyev signed the relevant resolution.

The increase will range from 1,000 to 10,000 soms. The indexation applies to insurance portions assigned before October 1, 2026, under the law on state pension social insurance. The basic portion of pensions will not be indexed.

After the recalculation, the total pension, excluding allowances, must amount to at least 8,800 soms. Payments below that threshold will be raised to the established minimum.

The resolution also sets out a separate procedure for pensioners whose payments had previously been brought up to the subsistence minimum. Pensions raised to 6,900 soms from October 1, 2024, and to 7,100 soms from October 1, 2025, including allowances, will first be brought to those same levels without allowances through the basic portion. The insurance portion will then be indexed.

The Social Fund must recalculate the payments and ensure that the new amounts are paid from October 1. After the indexation, the average pension is expected to reach 12,898 soms, with an average increase of 1,753 soms.
