Kyrgyz Citizen Dies in Xinjiang Traffic Accident; Driver Detained

A young Kyrgyz citizen has died in a traffic accident in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The 23-year-old, identified as O.K., was involved in a collision on May 30 in the city of Kuldja.

Chinese authorities have detained the driver responsible for the accident and are conducting a comprehensive investigation into its circumstances and causes. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed the incident, stating that the matter is under its control.

The Kyrgyz Embassy in China is actively engaged, maintaining constant contact with Chinese authorities, the medical facility, and the deceased's relatives. The embassy is providing necessary consular and legal support and is working to facilitate the repatriation of the body back to Kyrgyzstan. Relatives are entitled to state financial assistance for repatriation costs, according to a government decree.
