Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Discuss Wheat Supply and Grain Transit

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan held bilateral talks to address critical issues concerning wheat supply and agricultural cooperation. The meeting, which took place in Almaty, involved Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Erlist Akunbekov, and Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov.

The primary agenda items included ensuring a stable supply of food wheat, facilitating the transit of Russian grain through Kazakhstan's territory, and discussing the delivery of mineral fertilizers. The officials also explored opportunities for collaboration in agricultural product processing, digitalization within the sector, and pedigree livestock breeding.

Both sides expressed a mutual commitment to consolidating efforts. Kyrgyzstan signaled its interest in expanding wheat purchases from Kazakhstan and sought solutions for the uninterrupted transit of Russian grain via Kazakh routes. The discussions also covered attracting investment for agricultural processing, developing logistics infrastructure, and advancing agricultural digitalization and pedigree livestock farming.

The meeting concluded with both ministers affirming their readiness for further coordination and the implementation of specific joint projects, underscoring a shared goal to strengthen agricultural ties between the two neighboring countries.
